How to Increase File Size Upload for WordPress

This blog was put on hold for a few weeks while Google and I went looking for a solution to what I thought would be a simple problem: WordPress defaults to a 2MB upload limit for files and I needed that to be bigger so I could share Tesla Dashcam footage.

There are a large number of websites suggesting the solution is as simple as editing the php.ini file by finding a value named “upload_max_size” and changing the value from 2M to whatever number you need. Well that didn’t work.

It turns out that you also need to set the value of the “post_max_size” to match whatever you are setting the “upload_max_size” value to.

Changing both values allowed me to solve this problem and finally get back to work on writing.
